The Scriptures declare that God alone is the Great First Cause, the fountain of life, from whom has proceeded all life on every plane; as the Apostle Paul said: "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." (1 Corinthians 8:6) Yes, there is but one God. "The Lord our God is one Lord." (Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29)
Jesus called God his Father, and spoke of himself as the Son of God. "But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, 'Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.'" (Matthew 16:15,16) A father is a life-giver.A son is an offspring, one who receives life from a father. This distinction implies that God, the Father, existed first and that His "only begotten Son"proceeded from Him. (John 3:16) Jesus said of Himself, "I proceeded forth and came from God." (John 8:42) Jesus also declared "I ascend to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God" "...the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou [God] hast sent." (John17:3; 20:17)
The Christian not only finds ample evidence of Jehovah, our Creator, in the book of nature, but he finds in the Bible, His Word, the express revelation of that Creator, and of that creation. The Scriptures also describe God's four character attributes as Justice, Wisdom, Love and Power, all working in complete harmony to bring about His Kingdom on Earth as it is being done in Heaven — all in due time. (Matthew 6:10; 1 Timothy 2:3-6)
